Re: CAMTuning: 2006 STi goes 11.89@116.20mph VF39Why does elevation hurt performance so much? Is it because there is less oxygen in the atmosphere?
Very good run CJ. I watched those videos and you smoked your competitors. Life is like riding a bicycle, to keep your balance you must keep moving.
Re: CAMTuning: 2006 STi goes 11.89@116.20mph VF39Thanks guys, I am happy that I finally got into the 11s. Hopefully it brings in even more E85 tuning business for Cam!
Re: CAMTuning: 2006 STi goes 11.89@116.20mph VF39
We have lower atmospheric pressure AND less oxygen. With less oxygen you can't burn as much fuel, so you can't make as much power. With less atmospheric pressure, you have to spin the turbo even faster to make the same boost. Not So Slow Wagon

Re: CAMTuning: 2006 STi goes 11.89@116.20mph VF39
Dumb question then. Could we feed oxygen into the intake track and make more power? I could see myself getting an old persons oxygen tank and running a line into the cars snorkus. ![]() Life is like riding a bicycle, to keep your balance you must keep moving.
Re: CAMTuning: 2006 STi goes 11.89@116.20mph VF39Oxygen is too flammable. You could inject nitrous since it's an oxidizer and you would be able to burn more fuel.

Re: CAMTuning: 2006 STi goes 11.89@116.20mph VF39FYI: Oxygen is an oxidizer and is not flammable.
Re: CAMTuning: 2006 STi goes 11.89@116.20mph VF39Isnt the definition of an oxidizer anthing you mix with oxygen. Like nitrious? I know for a fact that n2o, is n2o because without the stablization of nitrogen in n2o, as soon as you combusted the o2 you would probably split your block in half. o2 is a very violent gas in its natural state. And honeslty n2o works as well as it does because of the chemical change from the liquid to gas state.
Think about it, your now injecting the combustion chamber with a frozen oxygen substance, so one you have the chemical of o2 now eruppting along with the fact that you just cooled that air to freezing point. An what what happens with cold air, it gets more denser therefore there is more of it then what it would be at a warmer state. Plus your adding the element of actual o2, for an even a better conbustion. ![]()
Re: CAMTuning: 2006 STi goes 11.89@116.20mph VF39oxygen helps whatever that is burning but it doesn't actually burn itself

Good point. It just helps stuff burn if it already has a fuel source. Not So Slow Wagon
